Elgato Game Capture 4K X External Capture Card
Game Capture 4K X is Elgato's external capture box for the highest frame rates a current console or PC will put out. It takes unencrypted HDMI in, records and passes through at up to 4K144, and carries a lag-free HDMI passthrough so the local display keeps the full signal while the capture side does its work. HDR10 is supported, with HDR capture currently available on Windows only.
It connects to the host over USB 3.2 Gen 2; a Gen 1 port still works, at a reduced capture resolution. Elgato Studio is the free capture and editing software behind it on both platforms. On Windows the stated minimum is Windows 10 64-bit with a 6th-generation Core i5 or Ryzen 5 and a GeForce GTX 10-series GPU; on Mac it is macOS 11 or later, or iPadOS 17 and later, with an Apple M1 or a 4th-generation quad-core Core i5, and 4 GB of RAM. The box measures 112 x 72 x 18 mm and weighs 91 g, and ships with a 150 cm USB 3.2 C-to-C cable and a 200 cm 8K HDMI cable.
