Audio-Technica BP898c Subminiature Cardioid Condenser Lavalier Microphone

The BP898c is the cardioid member of Audio-Technica's subminiature lavalier family, 5.3 mm across the body and 22.3 mm long, which is small enough to work in shot on television and theatre talent. The cardioid element gives directional pickup with a pronounced proximity effect at close range, so it flatters the wearer's voice and holds back the room behind them; where a looser, more distant pickup is wanted, the omnidirectional BP899 is the sibling to specify.

The cable is a urethane elastomer with a double-spiral shield, chosen for flexibility and for resisting the abrasion and sweat that kill ordinary lavalier leads. The clothing clip has two strain-relief points that keep cable-borne noise out of the capsule, and the two included windscreens each clasp onto the mic so they cannot fall off mid-performance. This version terminates in the screw-down 4-pin cH-style connector.
