Audio-Technica AT4051B EL

The AT4051b-EL is the cardioid head capsule from Audio-Technica's 40 Series modular studio system. It carries an externally polarized (DC bias) condenser element with a true cardioid pattern and the transparent, detailed sound the 40 Series is known for. As a head capsule only, it threads onto the AT4900b-48 microphone body to become a complete AT4051b.

Because the body is shared, one AT4900b-48 can wear a cardioid, omnidirectional, or hypercardioid head as the session demands, so a studio covers several patterns without buying separate microphones. Response runs 20 to 20,000 Hz with a switchable 80 Hz roll-off on the body, and the capsule itself weighs just 23 g.
