This is the Vaxis VFX clear coated filter in the 4 x 5.65 in matte box size. It adds no colour, no diffusion and no density.

The job is protection and stage-filling: a clear element in the front tray keeps spray, dust and fingerprints off the lens, and it holds the tray square when a stage would otherwise sit empty. It is the cheapest piece of glass on the truck and the one that saves the expensive one.
