Tentacle SYNC E mkII Timecode Generator
The SYNC E mkII is the small orange box that ends the argument about which camera the sound rolls with. It generates SMPTE 12M timecode as a master clock or jam syncs from an external source, and a high precision TCXO holds it to less than one frame of drift in 24 hours. It supports 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 29.97 drop frame and 30 fps. At roughly one ounce with its integrated hook, it hangs off a camera or a bodypack without being rigged.
The mkII revision moved setup and battery management to Bluetooth 5.0, so units are configured and monitored from the Tentacle Setup app instead of by button presses on set. Bluetooth Low Energy is why the internal battery still runs up to 35 hours whether it is generating, syncing or just being watched, and it fast charges over USB-C. The Single Set is one unit; the Double Set is two, the usual configuration for a camera and a recorder or for cameras with a 3.5 mm TRS timecode input.
