Sony NW-WM1AM2 Walkman Hi-Res Digital Music Player, 128 GB

The NW-WM1AM2 is the aluminium version of Sony's Signature Series Walkman. Its rigid aluminium-alloy frame shields the audio circuitry from electrical noise, and the S-Master HX digital amplifier developed for Walkman plays native DSD and drives balanced headphones at 250 mW per channel in high gain, or 60 mW per channel from the stereo mini jack. A large solid high-polymer capacitor assists the amplifier's power supply, FT CAP3 capacitors handle bypass duty, and an OFC milled block shields the digital section.

Response runs 20 to 40,000 Hz, DSEE Ultimate upscales compressed files, and a 10-band equaliser and DC Phase Linearizer are on board. It runs Android 11 on a 5.0-inch HD display with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0, holds 128 GB (103 GB usable) plus microSD, and charges over USB-C in about 4.5 hours. Weight is about 299 g.
