Sennheiser EW-DP SKP Plug-On Transmitter
The EW-DP SKP turns any wired microphone into an EW-DP channel. It clips onto an XLR, supplies 48 V phantom for a condenser shotgun or a handheld condenser, and sends the result to an EW-DP EK on the camera. A 3.5 mm input on the body also accepts a lavalier, so one transmitter covers both jobs.
The part that earns its place in a documentary kit is the microSD slot: the SKP records locally while it transmits, so an RF hit in a lift lobby or a car park does not cost the interview. The digital link runs 20 Hz to 20 kHz with more than 134 dB of dynamic range, distortion at or below minus 60 dB, and 1.9 ms of latency. Power is two AA cells or a BA 70 pack, and the unit weighs about 163 g.
