Rode SM8 Shock Mount for Long Shotgun Microphones

The SM8 is the shock mount RODE designed for the NTG8 and other long shotgun microphones. A long interference-tube mic is heavy at the front and easy to knock, so the mounting system is set up to hold it balanced across its length rather than clamping it at one point, and the rubber suspension keeps handling noise and boom-pole vibration out of the signal.

Integrated cable management routes the XLR lead along the body instead of letting it swing against the tube, which is where much of the rattle on a location take comes from. The mount offers several attachment options so it works on a stand, a boom or a pistol grip.
