JVC GY-HC550 4K Broadcast Camcorder
This is a demonstration unit of the GY-HC550, carrying a full one-year JVC warranty. It is a handheld member of JVC's CONNECTED CAM family, built around a 1-inch CMOS sensor and an integrated 3-ring 20x 4K zoom that covers 28mm to 560mm in 35mm terms, so a single operator can cover a news package without swapping glass. Its defining trait is connectivity: built-in dual-channel broadband radios on 2.4GHz and 5GHz with MIMO carry low-latency SRT or Zixi streams straight from the camera, and while shooting the crew can receive return video and IFB from the facility.
Recording is flexible across resolution and codec. To dual SDHC/SDXC cards it captures 4K UHD at 30p, 25p, or 24p in 4:2:2 10-bit or 4:2:0 8-bit at 150 Mbps, along with HD and MPEG-2 HD, while an optional M.2 SSD (via the KA-MC100G adapter) records 10-bit Apple ProRes 422, 422 HQ, and 422 LT up to 50/60p. A four-position ND filter and optional HEVC/H.265 encoding round out a compact rig aimed squarely at broadcast newsgathering and live production.
