JBL 9300 Two-Way Cinema Surround Loudspeaker
The 9300 is a two-way passive cinema surround built around a 250 mm (10 in) long throw low frequency driver with a 2 in voice coil and a 25 mm (1 in) composite diaphragm compression driver. It handles 250 W continuous pink noise at 96 dB sensitivity, which is what lets a surround array keep up with the screen channels without running out of headroom.
A wave shaping vane built into the horn distributes energy in proportion to the room, giving uniform asymmetric coverage of 110 degrees horizontal by 60 degrees vertical, and the high frequency horn uses JBL's Image Control waveguide for pattern control. The moulded enclosure is light and rigid, input terminals sit on top of the cabinet for access once it is hung, and three horizontal mounting planes at 15 degree steps let each box be aimed at the seats it covers.
