dbx 580 Microphone Preamplifier (500 Series)
The 580 slots into any 500 Series rack and delivers up to 60 dB of clean gain from an electronically balanced, RF-filtered mic input, with a 20 dB pad that pushes maximum input level to +35 dBu for hot sources. A front panel 1/4 inch instrument jack switches the preamp over to a high-impedance guitar or bass input without repatching.
Frequency response holds flat from 20 Hz to 20 kHz within a decibel, and equivalent input noise runs below -128 dBu, so the preamp stays out of the way of the source. Output is electronically balanced on the module's card-edge connector at up to +22 dBu, and the module draws 80 mA per rail from the rack's shared power supply.
