Countryman E2 Protective Cap
The E2 sits at the corner of the mouth where it collects breath, makeup and sweat, and the protective cap is what takes that punishment instead of the capsule. It also forms part of the acoustic path that gives the E2 its directional pattern, so a missing cap changes how the microphone sounds as well as how long it lasts.
