Audix D2 Dynamic Instrument Microphone
The D2 is a hypercardioid dynamic built for instruments with a strong midrange - rack and floor toms, congas, and other hand percussion. Its VLM Type B diaphragm gives a fast, natural attack, and the tuned response adds body and warmth without muddying the low mids. The tight hypercardioid pattern and better than 30 dB of off-axis rejection isolate the drum from the rest of the kit on a busy stage.
The transformerless, low-impedance balanced output stays clean over long runs, and the compact machined body clamps easily to a rim or stand. It handles peaks of 144 dB SPL and higher without distortion, so it takes a hard-hit tom in stride. Audix builds it in the USA; no phantom power required.
