Audio-Technica BP4071 Line + Gradient Condenser Microphone
The BP4071 family covers three lengths of the same line + gradient interference-tube design, so a boom operator can pick the reach a scene calls for: the 15.55-inch BP4071 for typical dialogue work, the 21.22-inch BP4071L for extended reach when the boom has to stay further from frame, or the 9.17-inch, 3.5 oz BP4073 for tight interiors and handheld rigs. Audio-Technica's interference tube design gives all three the same directivity as a tube up to 50 percent longer, so even the compact BP4073 rejects off-axis noise more tightly than its size suggests.
All three run on 48V phantom power, share a switchable 150 Hz high-pass filter to cut low-end rumble, and output through a balanced, low-impedance 3-pin XLRM connector. Housed in lightweight structural-grade aluminum alloy, they're built for the RF interference resistance and low self-noise that extended-range dialogue work in broadcast, film/TV, and theater demands.
