Audio-Technica BP4027/BP4029 MS Stereo Shotgun Microphone
The BP4027 and BP4029 pair an independent line-cardioid element with a figure-of-eight element in a mid-side configuration, giving a sound recordist the choice of a matrixed left-right stereo output, wide or narrow, or discrete mid-side signals to manipulate later in post. The BP4027 runs 14.96 inches for maximum reach on a boom pole; the BP4029 is a more compact 9.29 inches for tighter quarters or a lighter rig.
Both mics use Audio-Technica's interference tube design to reach further down a sound field than their physical length would suggest, and a switchable low-frequency roll-off filter cuts unwanted rumble before it reaches the recording. A 0.61 m cable and integral 5-pin XLR-M output connector round out both models, which are built for long-distance dialogue and ambience capture in broadcast and film/TV production.
