Whirlwind Cab Driver Speaker Test Set
The Cab Driver tells you whether the drivers inside an enclosure are alive without opening it. A pink noise source is routed by pushbutton selectors to speakON NL8 and NL4, 1/4 inch TS and banana jacks, and the level can be set for subwoofers, midrange cones, or compression drivers and tweeters. An XLR line output sends the same pink noise to self-powered cabinets.
The DC OHMS TEST button applies 5 VDC to the selected output terminals so you can watch the cone move and catch a polarity error in the speaker or the cabling. The same test lights one of three LEDs for approximate ranges of 4, 8 or 16 ohms, which finds a blown driver in a cabinet where the cones cannot be seen or where several drivers sit in a series-parallel array. It runs on four AA batteries or an external 6 VDC supply, not included.
