Universal Audio 1176LN Classic Limiting Amplifier
The 1176LN is Universal Audio's continuing production of the Class A FET limiting amplifier that has been on drum, bass and vocal tracks since the late 1960s. It is modeled on the 1176LN Blackface, D and E revisions, with a custom Putnam-designed output transformer and a Class A line-level output amplifier.
Attack runs from 20 microseconds to 800 microseconds and release from 50 milliseconds to 1.1 seconds, which is where the aggressive, fast-clamping character comes from. Two units interconnect for stereo through the 1176 SA network accessory, and the unit is hand-built in the USA with a one-year limited warranty.
