Shure KSM353/ED
The KSM353/ED is a passive bidirectional ribbon microphone, hand-built in the USA, that delivers the warm, smooth midrange and gentle top that engineers turn to ribbons for on horns, guitar amps, strings, and vocals. Its figure-8 pattern picks up equally front and back while rejecting the sides, which makes it a natural for Blumlein and mid-side stereo and for isolating a source in a busy room. A dual-sided transformer keeps signal loss low while shielding against RF interference.
What sets it apart is Roswellite ribbon technology: a resilient, shape-memory ribbon material that replaces fragile aluminum foil and survives handling, high SPLs, and even blasts of air that would stretch or tear a traditional ribbon, rated up to 146 dB SPL. It ships with the A300SM ShureLock wire-rope shock mount, an AK353C zippered carrying case, an A300PC polishing cloth, and an A353VB velveteen pouch.
