Rode M3 Versatile End-Address Condenser Microphone
The M3 is a versatile end-address cardioid condenser housed in a rugged all-metal body that shrugs off the knocks of live and location work. The cardioid pattern favors the source in front and rejects sound from the rear, and a switchable pad and high-pass filter let it move from a quiet vocal to a loud guitar cabinet without overloading. It is a genuine do-everything microphone for stage, studio and field.
What makes it especially flexible is dual powering: it runs on 24 or 48V phantom when a console can supply it, or on a single 9V battery for over 200 hours when it cannot, feeding a standard XLR output either way. The two-stage pad (-10 and -20 dB) and 80 Hz high-pass are set with recessed switches, and the mic ships with the RM1 stand mount, a windshield and a ZP1 zippered pouch, backed by Rode's 10-year warranty.
