Mitakon Speedmaster 35mm T1.0 S35 Cine Lens
Zhong Yi Optics builds the Speedmaster 35mm as a T1.0 cine prime covering an APS-C / Super 35 sensor, and T1.0 is the reason to reach for it: it holds a usable exposure in light where a T2.8 zoom has already given up, and it renders a very shallow plane of focus wide open. Eleven elements in eight groups sit behind a nine-blade iris that stops down to T16.
The housing is built for a crew rather than a photographer. Focus runs a 270 degree throw with precise marks, so a 1st AC can hit a mark repeatably, and focus breathing stays low through the range. The aperture ring is stepless and silent for pulls during a take, aperture throw is 60 degrees, and the gear positions are unified across the family so a follow focus does not have to be reset between primes. Minimum focus is 0.36m, the front takes 77mm filters, and it weighs 640g.
