Mackie EM-89D Cardioid Dynamic Vocal Microphone
The EM-89D is the handheld dynamic in Mackie's EM Series, tuned for lead and backing vocals and built to survive being handed round a stage all night. Its cardioid pattern rejects what is behind it, which is what keeps a wedge from feeding back when the singer steps in front of it, and the response is voiced for speech and singing rather than left flat.
The same capsule takes instruments well, so the mic doubles on a guitar cabinet, a snare or a tom without needing a different box in the case. Mackie pairs it with the EM Wave XLR wireless system for a handheld radio setup, and the mic ships with its clip, an XLR cable and a zip pouch so it is usable straight out of the carton.
