Mackie EM-98MS On-Camera Shotgun Microphone
The EM-98MS is a super-cardioid condenser shotgun built to mount directly on a DSLR or smartphone rig. Its high-directivity capsule reaches out toward the subject and rejects sound from the sides, and a switchable 75Hz/150Hz high-pass filter cuts handling rumble and HVAC noise before it hits the recording. Fully variable gain control and an overdrive protection mode that pulls the right channel down 10dB keep loud peaks from clipping.
A dedicated headphone output lets the operator confirm levels while shooting, and an internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery powers the mic with auto on/off to save charge between takes. It ships on a cold-shoe shockmount with a 3/8-inch tripod thread, plus furry and foam windscreens and a carrying case, and includes both DSLR and smartphone cables.
