Mackie PF-100 Pop Filter for EM Series Microphones
Plosives are the fastest way to ruin an otherwise good vocal or dialogue take, and the usual fix is a gooseneck screen clamped to the stand that then drifts out of position every time somebody bumps it. The PF-100 avoids all of that: it slides straight over the barrel of an EM Series microphone and sits at a fixed distance from the capsule.
Mackie recommends it for recording or streaming dialogue and singing, where it does two jobs at once. It evens out the low-frequency blast from hard consonants so levels stay consistent, and it keeps saliva off the grille, which is the thing that quietly kills condenser capsules over a few hundred hours of use.
