Irix Edge UV and Protector Round Filter

The Irix Edge UV and Protector is the filter that stays on the lens: it blocks ultraviolet light for more accurate colour and takes the dust, spray and accidental knocks that would otherwise land on a front element. Replacing a filter costs a fraction of repairing a front group, which is the whole argument for leaving one fitted on location.

Both faces carry multi-layer anti-reflective coatings under a NANO top layer that is hydrophobic and oleophobic, so water beads off and fingerprints wipe clean. The frame is machined aluminium. SR versions use toughened optical glass that has been heat treated for impact resistance. Sizes here run from 52 mm to 105 mm.
