Irix Edge Vari ND 2-5 Round Filter

The Irix Edge Vari ND 2-5 covers two to five stops of neutral density in one rotation, which is the range video work actually lives in: it holds a 180 degree shutter as the light changes without a filter swap. Limiting the range to three stops avoids the cross-polarisation banding that wide-range variable NDs show at their extremes.

Both faces carry multi-layer anti-reflective coatings under a NANO hydrophobic and oleophobic layer, and the frame is aluminium. It threads onto the front of the lens like a fixed filter. Available here from 67 mm to 95 mm.
