Fostex PM-SUBmini2 Powered Subwoofer
The Fostex PM-SUBmini2 is a small sealed subwoofer that extends the low end of a desktop monitor rig, built around a 13cm (5-inch) fiberglass-cone woofer in a compact box and driven by an onboard 50W amplifier. The sealed enclosure keeps the bass tight and controlled rather than boomy, which is what a near-field system needs when the sub sits under a desk.
A sweepable crossover sets the handoff to the satellites anywhere from 60Hz to 150Hz, and a phase switch plus a level control let you tune the blend to the room. Through terminals pass the signal on to the main speakers, and a switchable auto standby drops the sub into low-power sleep when nothing is playing.
