Earthworks SV33 Studio Condenser Vocal Microphone

The SV33 is Earthworks' side-address studio condenser for lead vocals, with a cardioid pattern and a 30 Hz to 33 kHz response. The extended top end is there so the microphone captures the detail of a voice rather than a filtered version of it, which is what lets an engineer track a vocal that already sits where it needs to sit in the mix instead of arriving at it with EQ.

It is an active condenser, so its output level runs higher than a dynamic and channel gain usually has to come down. Powering is 24 to 48 V phantom at 10 mA; plug it in with phantom off and the channel muted and give it a moment to settle before unmuting. The body is 8.32 in long, 1.97 in at its widest, and weighs 2.5 lb, which is why it ships with its own pivot arm rather than a clip. A carrying case is included.
