On location you are almost never lighting an empty room. You are adding to whatever is already there - a window, a ceiling full of fluorescents, a desk lamp the subject likes - and the fixture that works is the one that can be matched to it rather than fought with. Adjustable colour temperature is what turns a light from a problem into a tool.

Colour rendering is the specification that quietly ruins footage. A cheap fixture can hit the right temperature and still render skin badly, and no grade fully recovers it. Check the battery mount too: a light using the same cells as your camera or your monitor is one less charger, and running off mains is a promise location work rarely keeps.
