Ashton Bentley BX USB-C Breakout Hub A USB-C dock that mounts under the table and stays there

The BX takes the job a proprietary laptop dock does and moves it under the table, where it belongs in a meeting room. One USB-C connection from the laptop breaks out to HDMI, wired network and three USB ports, and the unit fixes to a back plate designed to mount under a desk, a table or inside a lectern. Where a manufacturer dock forces the laptop to sit within a short pigtail of the box, the BX works at up to 2.5 m using the Ashton Bentley locking USB-C input cable, and that connector latches into the BX so a knee under the table does not drop the call.

The two USB 3.0 ports carry dynamic 5 V switching. A video bar sees 5 V on its USB connection and drops into device mode so the laptop can use its camera and microphone; on most hubs that 5 V stays live after the laptop leaves, the bar stays in device mode, and someone has to power-cycle it. The BX removes the 5 V on disconnect, so the bar reverts on its own. The unit runs on power from the connected laptop, or from the optional USB-C charging PSU, which mounts on a fixing position built into the BX back plate and returns up to 100 W of charging to the laptop.
