A soft source that large throws light everywhere, including onto the back wall and into the lens. The grid fits over the 56.0cm face of the Verge Max and narrows the output to a 45 degree beam, so the softness stays on the subject and the surroundings go where you want them, which is usually darker.

It is fabric and it weighs 230g, so it folds down with the rest of the modifiers rather than needing its own case, and it adds no meaningful load to the stand it is already on.
