Whirlwind THS 1 Talkback Headphone Box

The THS 1 is the simplest of the Whirlwind announcer boxes: one momentary switch controlling the microphone. The THS 1M is push to mute and the THS 1T is push to talk, and both keep the microphone output as a passive straight-through connection from the input, so the mic stays live on air even if power to the box is lost. That switching is silent, and a jack is provided for an optional momentary footswitch. For use with dynamic mics only.

Headphone inputs are balanced left and right on separate female XLRs with a single front panel volume control for both ears, plus a balanced mono aux input that feeds both ears equally and has its own volume control. Headphones from 30 to 600 ohms can be driven to full volume, and the amplifiers are built to stay clean over a full arena. The layout keeps the buttons within reach while the announcer is working through stat sheets.
