The 3055-3B bridges the two mounting standards a broadcast shop ends up owning at once. A head with a Mitchell fitting bolts to the top of it, and the bottom presents the standard four-bolt flat pattern, so the head goes onto any 4-bolt tripod, pedestal or riser.

It is a solid machined adaptor with no moving parts to service, which is why it is the usual answer when hired-in heads and house supports do not match. For the reverse direction, where a four-hole head has to go onto a Mitchell base, order the 3750-3 Mitchell base with wingnut.
