Vazen 40mm T/2 1.8X Anamorphic LensFor M4/3 Cameras
The Vazen 40mm is the longer, faster member of the company's 1.8x anamorphic primes for Micro Four Thirds. The 1.8x squeeze is matched to a 4:3 sensor, so the recorded oval image unsqueezes to a 2.39:1 widescreen frame using the whole sensor height. Being a front anamorphic design, it gives you the real article: oval bokeh, a horizontal blue flare off any hot highlight, and the stretched separation of a 40mm on a scope frame. It opens to T2 and closes to T16.
Handling is pure cine. Focus and iris ride on independent rings cut with 0.8 mod gears, and the focus throw is a full 300 degrees for accurate pulls, with minimal breathing across the range. Close focus is 2.7 ft. The 95mm front is sized to slide straight into a standard matte box rather than take a screw-in filter, and the lens weighs 3.97 lb (about 1.8 kg), so it wants a rod-mounted support rather than a bare camera body. Mount is Micro Four Thirds.
