Tightrope Cablecast CBL-LIVE-330-UPG10 Live Streaming Server Upgrade
The CBL-LIVE-330-UPG10 is an upgrade package for a station running an earlier Cablecast Live streaming server, moving it onto current-generation Live hardware and software. Cablecast Live encodes an incoming feed to H.264 and delivers it as an HLS adaptive-bitrate stream, so viewers on different connections each receive a rendition their bandwidth can carry, all controlled from inside Cablecast rather than from a separate encoder appliance.
Because Live is built into the Cablecast user interface and the public web interface, a PEG or municipal channel puts a live meeting or event online through the same system that runs scheduled playout, and the stream can be disabled on a per-show basis to keep certain sessions off the internet feed. As an upgrade SKU, it is purchased against an existing Cablecast Live system rather than as a first-time standalone server.
