Sennheiser ew 500 BOOM G4 Wireless Plug-On Microphone System
The ew 500 BOOM G4 turns a wired microphone into a camera-linked wireless rig for field and location sound. Its SKP 500 G4 plug-on transmitter clamps onto the XLR of any handheld or shotgun microphone and, because it supplies 48 V phantom power, it drives condenser mics as well as dynamics, covering everything from a reporter's stick mic to an off-camera boom. The matching EK 500 G4 portable receiver rides on the camera and hands clean audio to the recorder.
An infrared sync copies the frequency from receiver to transmitter, and the top-tier 500 series adds up to 88 MHz of switching bandwidth with up to 32 channels for dense multi-channel work. Selectable RF output (10, 30, or 50 mW) trades battery life against reach up to 100 m / 330 ft, with up to 8 hours of operation. The set includes the SKP 500 G4 plug-on transmitter with phantom power, the EK 500 G4 camera receiver, a 1/8-inch output cable, an XLR unbalanced output cable, and a camera mount.
