NETGEAR APM414LD Single-Mode Fiber Interface Card for M4350-16M4V
Multimode runs out somewhere around the far end of a large building. When the link is between buildings, across a campus, or down the length of a stadium, the M4350-16M4V takes the APM414LD instead: the same two Neutrik opticalCON QUAD connectors, the same four transceiver positions, single-mode fiber behind them.
The opticalCON shell is the reason to spec this over a bare fiber bulkhead. It latches, it seals, and it survives being mated and unmated by hand in a loading dock, which is the difference between a permanent trunk and a link that gets rebuilt every event. The card shares its slot with the copper APM414C and the multimode APM414SD, so a site can standardize on one switch and let the card follow the fiber plant. Transceivers are ordered separately.
