Hiwatt The Custom 20

Twenty watts, two EL84s, and a circuit built to do more than the sweet Hiwatt clean: pushed, the Custom 20 gives a fat, harmonically complex overdrive that responds to the guitar's volume knob and to how hard it is played.

The 2025 revision added a Bright switch and a push-pull gain boost on the gain control. Bright adds sparkle to clean tones or tightens up higher-gain sounds; the boost is a natural lift of the amp's own voicing rather than a separate pedal. High and low impedance inputs, three ECC83s, and a rear-panel impedance selector for 4, 8 or 16 ohms complete it.
