Electro-Voice ND46 Dynamic Instrument Microphone

The ND46 is a dynamic supercardioid instrument microphone with an 18 kHz top end, which is unusually extended for a moving-coil design and keeps cymbal wash and snare detail from sounding blunted.

Supercardioid narrows the pickup further than a standard cardioid and moves the rejection null off the back axis, so it is the pattern to reach for when the monitor is behind the mic rather than beside it.
