ESE ES-456UE SMPTE / EBU Time Code Display
The ES-456UE is a microprocessor-based SMPTE/EBU time code display that reads 24, 25 and 30 frame rates and shows hours, minutes, seconds and frames on a 0.56 inch yellow LED readout. A front-panel switch flips the same digits over to the user bits, so the assistant reading the display can check either without another box on the bench.
Reading is bi-directional from 1/30 to 30x play speed, which keeps the numbers usable while a deck shuttles rather than only during real-time playback. An error bypass keeps the display stable through dropouts, a drop-frame indicator shows which counting mode the incoming code is using, and a hold control freezes a reading long enough to write it down. It ships in a desk-top case, with a rack-mount chassis available as an option.
