On a single-ear headset one cup carries the speaker and the other is simply the thing that holds the band steady against the head. That second pad still wears out, and when it does the headset starts sliding at exactly the moment somebody turns their head fast.

This is the EVADE off-ear replacement pad. Keep one with the spare ear pads; it is the least glamorous item in the kit and the one that quietly keeps a headset wearable.
