Deity S-Mic 3S Short Supercardioid Shotgun Microphone
The S-Mic 3S is the short version of the S-Mic 3, 148 mm long and 44 g, which is what makes it work in a car interior, on a plant mount, or anywhere a full-length shotgun would be in shot. Electrically it matches its longer sibling: supercardioid condenser, 50 Hz to 20 kHz, 12 dB A-weighted noise floor, 130 dB maximum SPL and -32 dB re 1V/Pa sensitivity.
The shorter interference tube trades some rear rejection for size - 3 dB at 60 degrees, 9 dB at 120 degrees, over 12 dB behind - so it is the mic you reach for when reach matters less than placement. The aluminium body is weather resistant and RF-shielded, and it runs on 24 V or 48 V phantom at 10 mA over 3-pin XLR. Cutting between it and the S-Mic 3 in post is deliberately uneventful.
