Countryman Type 85S Stereo Direct Box
The Type 85S puts two channels of the Type 85 class A FET circuit in one case, with several input connector options including RCA and 1/8 in, transformer isolation rated above 500 V from instrument ground to XLR pin 1, and cross-talk rejection better than 105 dB across the band.
Each channel is built from hand-selected discrete components in a single-ended class A topology, and like the single-channel Type 85 it can isolate ground even while running on phantom power. Phantom on Channel A powers the whole unit; with no phantom it runs about 130 hours on one internal 9 V alkaline. Note the polarity difference worth checking on a shared stage: the Type 85S is pin 2 positive while the single-channel Type 85 is pin 3 positive.
