Crestron AUD-EXT-100 Audio over CAT5 Extender
The AUD-EXT-100 moves an unbalanced RCA stereo signal a long way on structured cable, up to 2000 ft on CAT5 or better, without a power supply anywhere in the path. The transmitter balances the signal onto the twisted pairs, the companion receiver unbalances it back to RCA at the far end, and that is the whole system.
It is most often used to give a Sonnex multiroom audio system an audio return channel, so a source sitting in one room can be routed back through the central distribution system to any other. Both ends mount to a flat surface or to a single rack rail behind a rack, and three units fit side by side in one 1U 19 in. rack shelf.
