Acoustic isolation and thermal insulation are usually two different products; Mineral Fiber does both jobs at once. At 8 pounds per cubic foot it is far denser than standard fiberglass batt, which is what gives it a meaningful NRC on top of an R-value of 4.20 per inch, so a wall or ceiling cavity gets sound isolation and thermal performance from the same fill.

Auralex builds it to pair with RC-8 Resilient Channel and SheetBlok Sound Barrier for wall and ceiling isolation, or with U-Boat Floor Floaters and SheetBlok for floor isolation, decoupling the structure on either side of the cavity the insulation fills.
