AKG DST99 S Dynamic Paging Microphone
The DST99 S is a paging microphone for public address and communication work: a warehouse desk, a service counter, a dispatch position. Its response is shaped for speech rather than music, which is what produces intelligibility over a distributed ceiling system, and the cardioid pattern buys gain before feedback and keeps the room's own noise out of the announcement.
The capsule is dynamic, so there is no phantom power to supply and nothing to fail when the amplifier at the other end is switched off. The body is all metal, which is the reason these outlast the counters they sit on. It ships as a working station: the gooseneck on a table stand with an on/off switch, and a coiled cable terminated in a three-pin XLR.
