The Model SAP-612 Source Assign Panel independently assigns each of 24 TW channels (12 two-channel TW user station strings) to any one of six busses, communication channels. All channels assigned to a common buss channel can intercommunicate and exchange call signals. One to three TW power supplies (such as Models PS-31 or PS-15) may be conveniently connected to the SAP-612 to distribute power to the intercom stations. Or, the SAP-612 may be used with a non-TW power source. Switchable 200 Ω line terminations are built into the SAP-612 for proper line termination when using a non-TW power source. The SAP-612 has two balanced, transformer isolated program inputs. Program 1 is permanently assigned to buss channel 5, and program 2 is permanently assigned to buss channel 6.
Any one of the 6 intercom channels (input busses) or 2 program channels can be assigned to any one of the 12 output lines; each line consists of two separate feeds from the SAP- 612. For example, a given user station may be assigned intercom channels 1 and 2. Another station may be assigned intercom channel 3 and program source 2.
Outputs
Output connections can be made directly to a single user station or a group of user stations. Three-pin XLR type male connectors allow for standard mic cable usage. Multiple stations can interconnect via loop-thru connectors on individual user stations or via Model TW-5W 1x5 Splitters.
Inputs
Three XLR-type female connectors accommodate three separate 2-channel power supplies, models PS-15 or PS-31. The PS-15 power supply offers a single powered channel and a single passive channel (non-powered 20 Ω line). If three supplies are connected channels 1, 3, & 5 will be powered. This means the channel 1 slide switch can only select those respective channels. Each line powered user station requires power on it's channel 1 input. If a pair of PS-31 power supplies are used, then all 6 channels will be powered. When only a single power supply is employed channels 3-6 are not externally terminated. To compensate for this, a series of rear panel select switches can be engaged to provide the proper 200 Ω line termination for channels 2 thru 6 as necessary.
Expanded Operation
Designed specifically to work within the TW Intercom System, the SAP-612 is a cost-effective device that can be used in small, medium, or large systems. If additional output assignments are required, two or more SAP-612's can be operated in parallel. The SAP-612 is completely passive and therefore does not require a power source.
