Yamaha XM Series Four-Channel Installation Amplifier
The XM series are four-channel amplifiers built for fixed installation racks, where channel count and heat matter more than raw output. Both use Yamaha's EEEngine amplifier topology, which keeps idle draw at 40 W and standby at 5 W, and both cool with a variable-speed fan rather than a fixed one, so a rack in a quiet conference room stays quiet.
The XM4080 delivers 90 W per channel into 8 ohms and 120 W into 4 ohms, or 240 W per pair bridged. The XM4180 roughly doubles that at 210 W into 8 ohms, 250 W into 4 ohms, and 500 W bridged, and adds a 70V line output of 300 W per bridged pair for distributed systems. Each channel takes both an XLR-3-31 and a Euroblock input, drives 5-way binding posts, and offers a switchable 20 Hz or 55 Hz high-pass filter; a D-sub 15-pin control port handles remote monitoring.
