Teradek RT TOF.1 Infrared Rangefinder

TOF.1 is a small infrared rangefinder that measures the distance between the subject and the camera's focal plane and reports it continuously. Connected to an MDR.X receiver, it sends that reading to a CTRL.5, CTRL.1 or CTRL.3 hand unit and to SmallHD monitors, so a focus puller has a live number rather than an estimate.

The sensor refreshes 60 times a second, which is fast enough to drive precision autofocus from a single on/off toggle on the handset. Power and control both come from MDR.X down one 4-pin control cable, the same lead an RT motor uses, and calibration is handled from the MDR.X menu.
