PreSonus Fat Channel Plug-in Modules for Studio One and StudioLive Series III
Fat Channel plug-ins are single EQ and compressor modules that load into the Fat Channel slot, so an engineer swaps the character of a channel strip without rebuilding the session. Each one models a specific desk or outboard unit: the Alpine EQ-550 works in seven fixed frequency points with five steps of boost or cut, the Solar 69 is the British EQ that adds definition to kick and shimmer to vocals, the Baxandall gives wide sweeping treble and bass shelves, and the Vintage 3-band adds high and low shelving with its own bite. On the dynamics side the Brit Comp captures a twin VCA design for piano and drums, the Comp 160 is a blunter VCA with its own personality, the Everest C100A leans on gentle natural gain reduction, the Classic Compressor runs from transparent to extreme, and the two all-tube optical designs, the Tube CB and the Tube EQ, soften attack and release for midrange material.
They run in Studio One Artist and Professional from version 4.6 up, in Studio One Prime with Fat Channel XT purchased separately, and in VST3, AudioUnit and AAX hosts with Fat Channel XT. They also load on StudioLive Series III hardware, specifically the StudioLive 16, 24 and 32 consoles and the 16R, 24R and 32R rack mixers, so the same processing a mix was built with on the console travels into the DAW. Pick the module you want above; each is licensed individually.
