Park Custom Shop Muff Sound

The Muff Sound follows the early 'Rams Head' Muff fuzz and uses the same model transistors the original was built around, which is why it does not behave like a modern one. There is less compression and a more open sound, with more of the pick attack surviving into the fuzz. The Rams Head also deliberately filtered out the low frequencies that turn a high-gain fuzz to mud, rather than running the deep midrange scoop people now associate with the circuit, and it sat at lower gain values than most current versions.

It still reaches very high gain when you ask for it; the difference shows up at lower settings and when you stack a boost or an overdrive either side of it, where the reduced compression leaves room for the other pedal to do something audible. Park adds a variable Mid control the original never had, so the midrange can be put back and the pedal stays present in a full band - the thing a heavily scooped Muff makes difficult. Built in the Park Custom Shop.
